William Falcon

William Falcon is an AI PhD student at NYU supervised by Kyunghyun Cho and Yann LeCun. He’s also the creator of PyTorch Lightning, a framework for training deep learning systems.

Previously, he co-founded a startup (acquired) which helped over 65k low-income students access $39+ million in financial aid. He’s spent time at Facebook AI Research and Goldman Sachs. He obtained his BA from Columbia University.

In a past life, he was a naval officer undergoing US Navy SEAL training (BUD/S class 277) where he was injured and finished his military service as an intelligence officer at NSW SRT-1.

Kyunghyun Cho

Kyunghyun Cho is an associate professor of computer science and data science at New York University, a research scientist at Facebook AI Research and a CIFAR Associate Fellow. 

He was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Montreal until summer 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Yoshua Bengio, and received PhD and MSc degrees from Aalto University early 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Juha Karhunen, Dr. Tapani Raiko and Dr. Alexander Ilin.

He tries his best to find a balance among machine learning, natural language processing, and life, but almost always fails to do so.
